What We Offer

Comprehensive Care

We provide our patients with a complete medical team of physicians, nurses, and assistants. We provide seamless medical care from the hospital to clinic to our cancer treatment center. We offer care throughout Oahu at Queen’s Punchbowl and Queen’s West, Kuakini, Castle and Pali Momi Medical Centers.

Cutting Edge Treatment

Our physicians are active in clinical research in collaboration with the University of Hawai’i Cancer Center and Queen’s Cancer Center. Our patients are often enrolled in clinical trials investigating different aspects of cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Participation in clinical trials may offer patients access to new cutting edge treatments or diagnostics.

Extensive Network

We have a strong and productive relationship with our partner medical systems throughout Oahu. Our active involvement in multidisciplinary tumor boards, participation in clinical trials and presence at national oncology meetings helps ensure that the care we provide is based on the expertise of not just a single physician but the collective knowledge of an entire medical community.

Extraordinary Team

We have a diverse team of 10 board certified medical oncologists with an extraordinary amount of knowledge and experience. We embrace openness and equality amongst our physicians which is key to our highly collegial culture. We are the largest medical oncology group in Hawai’i which allows us to engage and collaborate with an extensive network of cancer surgeons, radiation oncologists, and all specialists involved in the care of cancer patients.

Our history

Hawaii Oncology has its roots in community practice and academic medicine dating back to the early 1990’s. At that time a group of University of Hawai’i faculty collaborated to offer Hematology and Oncology consultative services at Kuakini Medical Center and The Queen’s Medical Center. Over the subsequent 25 years, the group added faculty, community practitioners, and expanded office sites at Pali Momi Medical Center and Saint Francis Medical Center. In the late 2000’s the group also began a collaboration with The Queen’s Medical Center to develop the Queen’s Cancer Center.

In 2017 a reorganization led to the current Oncology group which has continued to grow and now boasts 10 members, the largest in the State of Hawai’i. We maintain a strong collaborative practice with the Queen’s Cancer Center, a faculty commitment to the University of Hawai’i John A. Burns School of Medicine and to the University of Hawai’i Cancer Center while fulfilling leadership roles in all three organizations as well as in Kuakini Medical Center.
