Meet Dr. Gene Yoshikawa

Dr. Yoshikawa is a proud Hilo High School graduate who returned home to Hawaiʻi after completing his fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he served his final year as Chief Fellow. Prior to this, he earned his medical degree at the University of Hawaiʻi John A. Burns School of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine training with the University of Hawaiʻi Internal Medicine Residency Program, including an additional year as Chief Medical Resident.

Dr. Yoshikawa treats a wide range of cancers, with a particular interest in genitourinary malignancies. He has co-authored several peer-reviewed publications, including studies on cancer survival disparities across racial and ethnic subgroups in Hawaiʻi. He also holds a faculty appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Hawaiʻi John A. Burns School of Medicine. Outside of work, he enjoys listening to music, exercising, and spending time with family and friends.
